Maccabees and Your Topic

Maccabees and Your TopicMany students go through the motions of coming up with a good and plausible topic for their Maccabees research paper, only to end up spending time and effort on something that is neither remotely related to what they want to research nor is it in keeping with their area of study. I have found that many of these students will take notes and practice some key points, but do not actually proceed with any further research. When I am working on a topic for my Maccabees research paper, I have found that there are a number of common human tendencies that often work against me. They are quite simple and I can usually point out their proper places easily. Here are some of them:The main reason for this is that students want to be able to talk about their topic for as long as possible. They love the idea of being able to discuss and build upon their research at great length. Unfortunately, their own natural tendencies to rush are causing them to avoid the topic at all cos ts. We spend our days filling up our heads with different thoughts and ideas; those thoughts and ideas are what drive us to get things done each day. When we spend more time running around looking for our thesis statement and get things done, we rarely sit down and really think about the topic. There are one way around this and that is to read the topic. First of all, it is a great help when you can see your topic from all angles. You can identify areas where you are going wrong and see what works and what doesn't. This will give you a better understanding of your topic and make it easier to write. In fact, in the final word I would say that the only way to write a good thesis statement is to first write a good research paper. A good research paper is what you are going to want to use as a basis for your thesis statement. Once you have done that, it is just a matter of putting that together with the best topic possible.Just remember, what is needed in writing a thesis statement is an articulation of your subject in terms of real 'is'. When I began teaching my first few years, I was taught that the two words that came before a subject were the thesis statement and the conclusion. It was very important to always be clear about this as a student. If your thesis statement lacks a solid conclusion, it is possible that other students will find your paper lacking in content. Not everyone's subject is a war crime, after all.Your topic must address a real 'is' and need to be supported by strong evidence. Remember, the thesis statement is the body of your paper and will be read by those reading it.
